Excess of anything is harmful and currently ITV is facing a similar situation with an over flow of shows having the concept of love triangles. But are these shows a trouble or a treat for the audience is the most appropriate question.
Love triangles in ITV are not a new offering we have seen several shows over the years having the concepts but so many shows having the concept of love triangle simultaneously is something we are witnessing first time.Each industry works on the principle of supply and demand and so does ITV. Since the demand or rather the rating of the shows centered around concept of love triangle started rising,everyone started joining the bandwagon.
Most of the tv shows in recent times that have been garnering top positions on the trp charts are having a love triangle between the main characters which include Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin , Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (3rd Gen) , Imlie and Udaariyaan.
So what really is the clicking factor that makes audiences glued to these shows and keeps them hooked enough. Is it the complex situation which arises when two main characters have a third person coming in their story or is it quest to see who will the main (here male) character chooses among the two prospects. The question is as simple as complicated and probably doesn't have a definite answer.
But what is definite is for sure that this is the new trend of ITV and is here to stay at least in recent future.
